From Finance to Freelance Writing

I’ve spent 20-plus years in the financial industry; as a financial advisor, securities trader, and insurance agent, But I’ve heeded both the creative and adventure call and I’m transitioning into writing and content creation. my work includes over 100 articles for outlets such as Active Trader Magazine, BET.com, Black Enterprise Magazine, and James Dicks Active Investor, all marked by wit (I think) and insight—and even earning me a memorable appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show!

Completed Nonfiction Works

I’ve authored several nonfiction titles that reflect a range—from practical financial advice to cultural exploration:

  • Things I Wish I Knew in College

  • Gold and Silver for Your Financial Security (co-author)

  • America’s First Feast, a narrative journey that follows his quest to recreate the original Thanksgiving meal—combining history, humor, and hands-on experimentation

  • Commander‑in‑Failure, a pointed political reflection on the Obama presidency—written from the perspective of a Black man questioning promises unmet

  • Natural Born Conservative, among others that explore identity, ideology, and personal experience.

Fiction & Series Writing

I’ve written the Madison Jennings YA thriller series, centered on high school students unraveling a terrorist plot—a tension-filled ride through youth, courage, and crisis. Readers have already dived into multiple installments with new installments forthcoming.
